These look at products and services and provides recommendations based on which is best among all and also provides ranking based on all parameters among competitors.

Benchmarking is useful not only comparing on performances but also its practices. Means what the other organizations do to enable the performances to be delivered.

This is the powerful tool in the process innovation o studying how the BEST achieve their performances can provides powerful clues for changing the way process operate.

Process of Benchmarking of this kind can operate at several levels:

  1. Between similar processes in the same factory or service branch.
  2. Between different factories or service branches

There are two types of automobile benchmarking in predesign and development of car

  2. Benchmarking II
  • Benchmarking I:

Benchmarking-I is the product level benchmarking in which we study what type of features will be available in our car, in its parent car and in our competitor car.

In this process if I want develop new product at that time I will check what type’s similar products are available in market and what features are they providing, also what I can give to market to sell more product of my company.

  • Benchmarking II:

Benchmarking-II is the part level benchmarking in which we do analysis of material, thickness, number of parts and total weight.

In this many engineers are provided with different part level study like tailgate, roof, side doors and hood, etc.

e.g. if engineer is provided with Roof study then I have define what type of roof my car will have , also I have to study what type of roof my parent car and also what type of roof is provided in my competitors cars.
