Aim: To expain about Benchmarking and finding a good car for Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhii by comparing the cars.

Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products,
services or processes on some dimensions of performance. For example it can be
used to compare the availability and delivery of features in a product and in this
form often provides the basis of consumer tests and reviews. These look at
products and services and provide recommendations based on which is best or
some form of ranking amongst competitors.
   

It is particularly useful when comparing not only performance but also practice –
in other words what do the different organizations do to enable that
performance to be delivered? And applied in this way it is a powerful tool in
process innovation sin e studying how the ‘best’ achieve their performance can
provide powerful clues for changing the way processes operate. Process
benchmarking of this kind can operate at several levels:
• Between similar processes in the same factory or service branch
• Between different factories or service branches
• Between different competing organizations
• Between different sectors using the same process

As a first step on the way, vehicle manufacturers have to benchmark their vehicles in the competitive environment in order to understand and to strengthen or improve the potential of their vehicles. Mahindra XUV300 W4 1.5 Diesel is the diesel variant in the Mahindra XUV300 lineup and is priced at ₹ 9.60 Lakh.It returns a certified mileage of 20 kmpl. This W4 1.5 Diesel variant comes with an engine putting out 115 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 300 Nm @ 1500 rpm of max power and max torque respectively. Mahindra XUV300 W4 1.5 Diesel is available in Manual transmission and offered in 5 colours: Napoli Black, Aqua Marine, Dsat Silver, Red Rage and Pearl White.

 

As for the steering, it goes almost three turns lock-to-lock. But its character can be controlled/altered by a button on the centre console offering three settings – Normal, Comfort, and Sport. There’s not much difference noticeable between Normal and Comfort where it remains light but direct at any speed. But switch to Sport and there’s an immediate weight added, which is likeable for some spirited driving. Otherwise, either of the other two modes should be enough for everyday driving. Lastly, the brakes on our test car had a solid performance with good bite feel and stopping power at any speeds, courtesy of disc brakes on all four corners.

  • Needs a makeover - An update would help attract prospective buyers to the XUV300
  • Interior fit/finish - It is not in the league of segment rivals such as the Venue/Seltos
  • Petrol AMT gearbox - The engine feels less refined due to the discernible shift shocks

  The Mahindra XUV300 is the understated underdog of the lucrative sub-four metre SUV segment. With the addition of AMT automatic paired to the petrol motor, the carmaker has extended its versatility in the cut-throat segment.
