What is Benchmarking?
Benchmarking is involved in a comparison between similar products on some dimensions of
performance & also features. It can be used to compare the availability and delivery of features in a
product and in this form often provide the basis of consumer tests & review. These look at products and
services and provide recommendations based on which is best or some form of ranking among
competitors.
A specific, distinctive vehicle attribute branding is essential to make cars unique & competitive. As a first
step on the way, vehicle manufacturers have a benchmark of their vehicles in the competitive
environment in fact to understand & strengthen or improve the potential of their vehicles.

Process benchmarking can operate at several levels:
- Between similar process in the same factory or service branch.

• Primary classification of Benchmarking:
1) Internal Benchmarking is used, when a company already has established and proven best
practices and they simply need to share them. Internal benchmarking also may be
necessary if comparable industries are not readily available.
2) Competitive Benchmarking is used when a company wants to evaluate its position within its
industry. Also, competitive benchmarking is used when a company needs to identify
industry leadership performance targets.
3) Strategic Benchmarking is used when identifying & analyzing world class performance. This
form of benchmarking is used most when a company needs to go outside of its industry.

• In order to select a vehicle / car from the above 4 vehicles as mentioned by selection criteria ,
infact we are focusing mainly & majorly on seating & spacing, by comparing all these there is a
very tough competition between those under the price bracket of 8.5-10 Lakh. These are the
MULTI-UTILITY VEHICLES(MUV) as compared to SEDAN & SUV , in this budget we can buy an
MUV along with 7 Seating arrangements . Aslo these all vehicles satisfies the condition for 5
people & are preferred for city, long-drives & Highway rides as-well, as coming to safety ratings &
criteria MAHINDRA (BOLERO NEO) , MARUTI (ERTIGA) & KIA (CARENS) are rated the best, as
come to mileage criteria RENAULT(TRIBER) is better than all, coming to maintainnce it is less for
KIA, when compared , my preference is that KiA CARENS, as comparing all economical, mileage,
ground clearance & also provides good factor apart from safety.
• So as a recommendation / suggestion I will prefer KIA CARENS(PREMIUM) which is recommended
to the user from the ratings & specifications point of view
