Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

BENCHMARKING OF AVAILABLE CARS IN INDIA MARKET:

Here, I have selected some of the popular cars in India market, on the basis of consumer’s requirement, i.e.

• Suitable for 5 people to sit.
• Available budget is under the range of 8-10 lakhs on road price.
• Able to commute long distances once in a month. 
• Fond of big cars, etc.

These popular cars are:

1. Maruti Suzuki Swift (Zxi)   
2. Maruti Suzuki Baleno (Zeta 1.2)
3. Tata Nexon (XM)   
4. Hyundai Venue (S 1.2)
5. Hyundai Elite i20 (Sportz plus 1.2)

MARUTI SUZUKI SWIFT:

Specifications: The Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently offered with an 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine.It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, which Maruti calls AGS (Auto-gear Shift). The petrol engine is a BS6-compliant unit and has a claimed efficiency of 21.21kmpl. The Swift is 3840mm long, 1520mm wide, and 1530mm tall.

Swift's Variants: The Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in four variants: LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI+. Colour options on offer are red, white, silver, grey, blue and orange.

Features: Swift’s exterior comes with LED headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and LED tail lamps. Inside, notable elements include a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, steering-mounted audio control, a multi-info display, and keyless entry with push-button start. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rear view camera

MARUTI SUZUKI BALENO:

Specifications: Maruti Suzuki offers the Baleno with two petrol engine options: a 83PS 1.2-litre K12B unit and a 90PS 1.2-litre Dual Jet engine. The latter also comes with a mild hybrid system that packs features like torque assist and start-stop functions. Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. However, if you want an automatic Baleno, the CVT is offered with the standard 1.2-litre K12B engine only. In terms of dimensions, the Baleno is 3995mm long, 1745mm wide, 1510mm tall and has a 2520mm long wheelbase.

Variants: The Baleno is offered in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Apart from the base variants, all variants come with automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Dualjet motor is offered in the mid-spec Delta and Zeta variants.

Features: Outside, it comes with LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Inside, features include a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, steering mounted audio control, a multi-info display, electrically adjustable ORVMs and keyless entry with push button start. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

TATA NEXON:

Specifications: The Nexon BS6 is powered by 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines with the turbo petrol now more powerful producing 120PS and 170Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 110PS of power and 260Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT gearbox.

Variants: The Nexon BS6 is offered in five variants - XE, XM, XZ, XZ+ and XZ+(O).

Features: The Nexon BS6 gets cosmetic updates similar to the Nexon EV. Inside, the Nexon gets a three-spoke steering wheel and touchscreen infotainment from the Altroz as well as new features like cruise control, auto headlamps and wipers as well as connected car technology. It also comes with electronic stability control and i-RA voice assistant feature as standard.

HYUNDAI VENUE:

Specifications: The Venue is offered with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. Petrol engine options consist of a 83PS 1.2-litre petrol and a 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol while the diesel variant comes with a 100PS 1.5-litre unit. While all three engines come with a manual option, only the turbo-petrol engine is offered with a 7-speed DCT. In terms of size, the Venue measures 3995mm long, 1770mm wide, 1605mm tall and has a 2500mm long wheelbase.

Variants: The Venue is offered in a total of four variants: E, S, SX+ and SX (O). The petrol variant is offered in the E and S variant while the turbo-petrol variants are offered on all except the base. The diesel engine is offered on all variants.

Features: Notable features in the Venue include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, a sunroof, cruise control, a wireless phone charger, climate control and cornering headlamps. On the safety front, it comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear view camera and electronic stability control.

HYUNDAI ELITE i20:

Specifications: With the 1.4-litre CRDI diesel engine discontinued, the Elite i20 is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that develops 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque.With the omission of the CVT gearbox, it is only available with a 5-speed manual.

Variant: The Elite i20 is offered in four variants- Magna, Sportz plus, Sportz+ Dual Tone and Asta (O).

Features: It comes equipped with bits like a beige-black two-tone cabin, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink support. Safety kit consists of ABS, dual front airbags, curtain airbags, central locking, speed-sensing auto door locks. 

COMPARISON:

Here, I have compared one of the variants of all the car models which are mentioned above, on the basis of its specifications. As per the budget available under the range of 8-10 lakhs on road price, I have chosen the version which comes under the prescribed budget.

CONCLUSION:

 Thus, based on the requirement of Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii, I would like to suggest him to buy "Hyundai Venue s". Because as mentioned above that Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars, "Hyundai Venue s" has a height of 1605 mm, which is a big height for 5 seater car. This car can also commute long drive as it has driving range upto 788.4 km & fuel capacity is 45 litres. On compared with "Tata Nexon XM", it's price is comparatively less & mileage is little bit high, which is sufficient to drive in traffic area like banglore which is highly populated city.
