Task:
1. Prepare a report explaining what is Bench-Marking
Benchmarking:
- In an automotive manufacturing company benchmarking is very much necessary to flow of the automotive development process.
- Benchmarking comes under the first stage of the Vehicle development process which is the Predesign and development stage.
- Benchmarking is the practice of comparing business processes and performance metrics to industry bests and best practices from other companies. Dimensions typically measured are quality, time, and cost.
- Technical benchmarking is performed by design staff to determine the capabilities of products or services, especially in comparison to the products or services of leading competitors.
- There will be 2 stages of Benchmarking in the process:
- Benchmarking 1: Comparing with products that are already available in the market.
- Benchmarking 2: More detailed report and comparing along with the product specifications and features.

2. Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.
Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Opinion:
I would suggest Kia Sonet to Mr. Pughazhyendhii's family. Considering the requirements of long and city travel, seating, fuel efficiency, power, and tank capacity Sonet is an excellent choice offering all the specified requirements.
Tata Nexon also offers similar figures compared to Sonet. If Mr. Pughazhyendhii wants a sturdy and car with better looks he can opt for Nexon without compensating any requirements.
