Assembly of Yacht
SURFACE MODELING OF YACHT
Objective:
- The objective of this project is used to create a surface modelof different parts of the Yacht using Solid works.
- To assemble the different parts modelled for the Yacht.
Part Modelling:
- Part Modelling you can create a part from a conceptual sketch through solid feature-based modelling, as well as build and modify parts through direct and intuitive graphical manipulation.
Surface Modelling:
- Surface modelling gives you the ability to build out a visual representation of an object’s exterior and its contours. In other words, it’s a surface.
- Surface modelling plays a major role in modelling a yacht. Most of the parts in the yacht are surface modelled.
- The following are the features used in surface modelling,
Loft Surface
- Loft Surfaces are surfaces generated by multiple 3D Curves or existing edges creating a smooth tangency between the selected curves.
Sweep Surfaces
- Sweep Surfaces are surfaces that are generated from a section curve positioned along a path.
Filled Surface
- The Filled Surface feature constructs a surface patch with any number of sides, within a boundary defined by existing model edges, sketches, or curves, including composite curves.
Surface trim
- Primarily used to cut away material from a surface, and provides two modes: Standard and Mutual.
Extend Surface
- Extend Surface is used to extend the surface which is already created. There are different options available on the extended surface. We can extend the surface as same surface or we can extend the surface tangent to the surface.
Surface knit
- Surface knit is used to knit the two free edges/open edges of the surfaces together. Also it reduces the gap between the two edges of the surface.
Parts to be modelled for chopper:
- The following parts of the Yacht are modelled in Solid works and assembled together.
- Propeller
- Radar
- Blue Print
- Hull
- Garage Door
- Front Seat
- Middle Seat
- Rear Seat
- Super Structure
- Radar Mast
- Propeller :
- A Propeller is a fan mechanism that transmits power by converting rotational motion into thrust. Usually consisting of 3 or more blades.

Features used to create Propeller
- Sketch
- Revolve
- Cut Extrude
- Loft
- Fillet
- Circular Pattern
Sketch
- Sketch is the two dimensional representation of the model with respect to the plane/view from the outside of the mode.
Revolve
- To create a revolve feature: Create a sketch that contains one or more profiles and a center line, line, or edge to use as the axis around which the feature revolves.
Circular Pattern
- Circular pattern is used to create a pattern of the propeller. By using this multiple patterns are created.
Loft
- Loft are surfaces generated by multiple 3D Curves or existing edges creating a smooth tangency between the selected curves.
- Radar :
- Marine radars are X band or S band radars on ships, used to detect other ships and land obstacles.

Features used to create Radar
- Sketch
- Extrude
- Mirror
- Cut Extrude
- Fillet
- Sketch driven pattern
Extrude cut
- Extrude cut is another cool feature which helps to remove materials from the 3D model.
Mirror
- By using mirror faces with a mid-plane selected only the chosen faces within the revolve will be mirrored
- Hull :
- A hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat. The hull may open at the top or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck.

Features used to create Hull
- Sketch
- Project Curve
- Swept Surface
- Loft surface
- Extruded surface
- Extend Surface
- Surface Knit
- Extrude
- Mirror
- Cut Extrude
- Fillet
- Pattern
- Split
- Shell
- Garage Door :
- Garage door is used to close the garage part in Hull.
Features used to create Garage Door
- Insert
- Shell
- Text
- Split
- Front Seat :
- Front Seat is placed on the front part of the Hull.

Features used to create Front Seat
- Sketch
- Project Curve
- Swept Surface
- Loft surface
- Rule Surface
- Extend Surface
- Surface Knit
- Extrude
- Mirror
- Cut Extrude

- Middle Seat :
- Middle seat is placed under the superstructure.

- Super Structure :
- Super structure means to add a construction to an already existing structure. In ships this is the name given to the part of the ship that emerges from the deck.

Features used to create Super Structure
- Sketch
- Project Curve
- Swept Surface
- Loft surface
- Extruded surface
- Extend Surface
- Fill Surface
- Surface Knit
- Surface Trim

Assembly:
- The parts of the Yacht are inserted into the assembly environment.
- The possible mate conditions are given to the yacht and the yacht is assembled.

Conclusion:
- The parts of the Yacht are modelled.
- The parts are inserted into the assembly environment and the Yacht is assembled.
