Modelling and Realistic Rendering of Sunseeker Predator Yacht (SolidWorks)
INTRODUCTION:-
Yacht is basically a power driven vessel similar to large ships but comparatively smaller in size, luxurious, faster, more streamlined and beautiful.
We are using SolidWorks (a mechanical design software) to design our Yacht model.
OBJECTIVE:-
- To learn and apply all surface modeling techniques and mastering some very important tools such as projected curve, surface loft etc.
- Model Hull, Superstructure, Radar, Radarmast, Seats and Garage door.
- Do the Assembly.
- Get rendered images of Yacht.
Hull:-

Fig 1:- Hull
Hull is the watertight body of the Yacht which is always partially dipped underwater. It is hollow and houses space for fuel and engine. It is the base of Yacht and all other structures of Yacht are mounted on it.
Superstructure:-

Fig 2:- Superstructure
This is the housing above the hull which contains seats for passengers, pilot area, jacuzzi, and the interior with luxurious amenities.
Front Seat:-

Fig 3:- Front Seat
This seat is located at the front part of yacht, just before the superstructure. One gets nice view from this seat. It is open to air.
Middle Seat:-

Fig 4:- Middle Seat
This seat is located at the middle to rear part of yacht, at the back of superstructure. It consists a table and the 3 sided sofas are turned towards it.
Rear Seat:-

Fig 5:- Rear Seat
It is at the rear part of yacht. It supports two metal doors along it’s sides. It also houses a flag.
Garage Door:-

Fig 6:- Garage Door
It is at the rear part of the hull. It is a large door of the car Garage inside the Hull. It opens from bottom to top.
Radar:-

Fig 7:- Radar
Radar is a detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects. It is used for accurate navigation of Yacht in the Seas. It is mounted on top of the Yacht.
Radarmast:-

Fig 8:- Radarmast
Radarmast houses Radar, Antennas and horns. It is mounted on top of the Yacht.
Propeller:-

Fig 9:- Propeller
A propeller is a rotating fan-like structure which is used to propel the Yacht by using the power generated and transmitted by the main engine of the Yacht. It is attached to the shafts at the back of the hull and are always underwater. There are 3 Propellers in our Yacht.

Assembly in SolidWorks is done in Assembly environment. We use different constrains to fit the parts desirably. Mate Command is the most important tools inside Assembly. Under mate command, we use coincident, parallel, perpendicular, tangent, concentric, lock etc. to mate two parts successfully as per the design requirements.

CONCLUSION:-
Before real life prototyping of any product, the product is designed, tested and validated on a product design software first. This technology has made testing and manufacturing much easier and cheaper when we compare this with traditional hand drafting and prototype testing.
SolidWorks provides an easy to use modeling environment which encourages the creativity of a Design aspirant. We learned how important Blueprints are as it made whole modeling easy to follow and confusion free. We learned the importance of proper arrangement of feature tree so that the other person won’t have any difficulty in understanding our model. We learned no matter how complex something is, it can designed easily in a simple manner. With Surface Modeling, complex shapes can easily be obtained using tools such as projected curve and lofted surface. After realistic rendering of our model, we get the feel of completeness of the Project.
