Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_6_Bracket

SHEET METAL BRACKET IN SIEMENS NX CAD

JEEVA R

OBJECTIVE:

To develop a “Sheet metal bracket” using different commands and tools in NX CAD.

WHAT IS NX CAD?

NX CAD is an advanced high-end CAD/CAM/CAE software used for designing models etc. It was formerly known as “Unigraphics” owned by Siemens PLM Software.

DESIGN FLOWCHART:

COMMANDS USED:

1. SKETCH:

2D sketch is drawn as per the model in the required plane with proper dimensions and relations.

2. CONTOUR FLANGE:

A flange is external or internal ridge or rim for strength as the flange of iron beam. It creates features as per the shape of the sketch drawn.

3. NORMAL CUTOUT:

It is used to remove material with defined sketches to facilitate required design.

4. BREAK CORNER:

This command is used to round off sharp corners, to avoid injuries.

5. UNBEND AND REBEND:

Unbend command is used to flatten the model created to infuse further complex features such as holes, dimple, bead, etc. After, implementing required features then it is again rebend to original model using rebend command.

6. HOLE:

It is used to create holes and slots as per design requirements.

7. BEAD:

Bead is another punch tool used to create embosses over sheet metal, this feature is used to elevate sheet metal parts without flat contact with surface.

8. FLATPATTERN:

This command is used to flatten the final sheet metal model to prepare a detailed drawing of the model for manufacturing.
