Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

Tittle of the project

Design of odd shaped enclosure using NX CAD software

Objective

The main objective is to learn sheet metal from solid command by creating extrude.

Introduction

Siemens Nx which was formerly known as Unigraphics, is a user-friendly design software. Which is basically used for advanced CAD/CAM/CAE.

The command sheet metal from solid is used to wrap any solid materials into sheet metal by choosing the web faces and bend edges.

Design methodology

Part Navigator

It plays very important role as it gives each and every detail of the command used for the creation of the model.

Description

Extrude – this command is used to convert closed sketches into solid model. Solid can be extruded either side of the sketches. Sometimes extrude can be used to subtract material’s too like creating holes.

Sheet metal from solid – this command is used to wrap sheet metal around any solid model.

Flange – flange is extended part of tab in different angle can be created only when there is a tab available. Width of the flange can be adjusted.

Jog – any sketch on the surface of flange can be bend along that sketch and the height can be adjusted.

Unbend – unbend is the command to create a flat pattern.

Re bend – use to re bend the complete sheet metal.

Bead – it is used to provide support and strength to sheet metal.

Conclusion

This challenge helps to learn how to use command such as sheet metal from solid, bead, jog and helps understand the uses of it.
