Student projectsChallengeAdvanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped EnclosureGG. Saffwan Syed Asan2 Jun 2023 Odd Shaped Enclosure Objective: To write a detailed report on Sheet Metal Component with good explanation on Sheet Metal modelling tools applied throughout the modelling. Introduction: Sheet metal design software considers the fabrication methods needed for manufacturing. As you create flanges and add bends, the sheet metal design software will accurately represent the flat pattern required. The flat pattern can be used to document and manufacture associatively as the design changes. Here in this project we are dealing with the Sheet metal designing using the software Siemens Nx cad. Design methodology / approach: The design methodology used for this project is summarized in below flowchart. Description: SKETCH: This is used to create a basic sketch of the design on selecting the desired plane, then later it can be modeled for the requirement. Extrude: It creates a feature by extruding a section along a vector. Sheet Metal from solid: This command is used to convert the solid body into a sheet metal body. Flange: Adds a flat flange at an angle to a planar face and adds a bend between the two. Jog flange: This command Modifies the model by lifting material on one side of sketch line, adding a flange using a cross line. Sketch: Unbend: This command is used to faltten the 3D model by selecting one stationary face. Beads and Hole: Beads feature is used to create a bead on the sheet which generally strengthens it. This tool is used to lift a material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool. Hole is actually used for making the holes on the requirement for further assembly of the part by assigning different types of specifications of screws. REBEND: Restores an unbend feature to its previous bent state, along with any features added after the unbend feature. Flat pattern: This option is to create the flat pattern feature from the formed sheet metal part. This finally gives the whole sheet metal part with the added feature which helps us in the manufacturing process.
