Title: Odd Shaped Sheet Metal Creation

Objective:

The objective of this project is to Odd shaped sheet model using NX Sheet Metal by using some of the commands in the PLM software and plot the 2d view in Drafting module of NX.

Introduction:

Sheet Metal is used in various industrial applications and we can also see it in our day to day life frequently.Even in automobiles,aerospace applications sheet metal is used.In this project we have created and explained the procedure of creating some Oddd shaped sheet metal by wrapping around a solid body in NX using different features.

Design Methodlogy:

Description:

a)Extrude:

This is a standard option in every model creation softwares which is used to create 3d model by including thickness to 2d sketch.

b)Sheet Metal From Solid

In NX Sheetmetal module this option is available.By using this we can create the sheet metal by wrapping around the solid body in the shape of the solid body with the exact same bend angles of the Solid body we are using.

c)Jog

This tool make the sheet metal to bend and move away from the jogged area such as the material lifted from the place using a sharp tool up to a certain height.

d)Flange:

Flanges are the bent part of the base sheet metal which are also called as Web.By using this command we input the angle of the flange,height and draw a shape of it using sketch.

f)Screw Hole:

We can provie the mounting holes for the sheet using this command by using the standard library of screw holes available as per our requirement.

h)Bead:

Bead is similar to dimple but generally beads are round in shape.It is also added to the sheet metal to improve the stiffness.

g)Flat Pattern

It is nothing but 2d form of the sheet metal model along with all the dimensions like Bending angles,Bend radius etc which are needed to develop a sheet metal part from the raw material.
