Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

DESIGN OF SHEET METAL ODD ENCLOSURE USING NX CAD

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the project is to design a sheet metal odd shaped enclosure using Sheet metal application in Siemens NX and a drawing sheet needs to be drafted for the designed model using drawing application in NX.

INTRODUCTION: NX sheet metal Design provides the design professional with a complete set of tools to efficiently create and manage sheet metal parts based on the knowledge of materia properties and manufacturing processes. NX sheet metal design tools incorporate material and bending information, enabling the model to represent both the formed component and flattend blank shapes.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

DESCRIPTION:

  1. EXTRUDE – Creates a feature by extruding a section along its vector.
  2. BEND – Modifies the model by bending material on one side of one side of a sketch line, adding a bend between the two sides.
  3. FLANGE – Adds a flat flange at an angle to a planar face and adds a bend between the two.
  4. UNBEND – Flattens a bend and the material adjacent to the bend.
  5. HOLE – Adds a hole to one or more solid bodies in a part or assembly with options for counterbored, countersunk and threaded.
  6. BEAD – Lifts a material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool.
  7. REBEND – Restores an unbend feature to its previous bent state, along with any features added after the unbend feature.
  8. FLAT PATTERN – Creates a flat pattern from the formed sheet metal part.
