Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly

                                                                                                                     BOX ASSEMBLY

Objective:-

-To learn about sheet metal component modeling by designing the box assembly using the NX-12 software modeling features and tools.

Introduction:-

- In the design of Box assembly using the NX-12 various features and tools are used such as tab, flange, normal cutout, corner break, hem, etc.

-The design of the box assembly is created for the production of the box using sheet metal the given thickness and desired sheet metal to use are 1mm and 2mm in certain cases.

 Design methodology:-

-The design method and approach are as shown in the flowchart below-

Description:-

Tab-

To create a tab the sketch should be created first and then tap on the tab option.

Flange-

Select the edge of the body to create the flange and adjust the given options to create the desired flange.

Hem-

To join the sides of the box the flange is created and joined by using the hem by open hem.

Mirror-

The mirror feature is used to mirror the created body concerning the mirroring plain or center line.

Unite-

Unite feature is used to join the multiple bodies together by selecting the bodies to unite.

Dimple-

A dimple is created on the body by selecting the sketch and then selecting the desired dimple variations.

Bead-

To create a bead the created sketch has to be selected and choose the desired bead properties.

Break corner-

A break-corner is used to create the round edge to give some relief to the body.

Open loop hem-

open loop hem is one of the variations available to create the hinge join.

Unbend-

unbend feature is used to flatten the featured body.

Rebend-

Rebend is used to achieve the previously featured body.

Conclusion-

In the box assembly, we have learned new tools and features like mirror, unite, open loop hem, etc.
