Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_1_Casing Design

Casing Design

Objective: Required to create Casing design per DFM using NX sheet metal.

Sheet metal Introduction:

Sheet metal is made by rolling process, which is thickness between 0.35 to 6mm is called sheet metal.

Above 6mm called plate and below 0.35mm called foils.

Sheet meal vastly used in the automotive industry to build body parts.

Sheet metal operations

Simply put, cutting operations cause the sheet metal to be stressed beyond its ultimate strength therefore

breaking its structure and separating into different parts.

Following are the 9 different types of sheet metal operations:

1.Shearing Operations

2.Blanking Operations

3.Punching Operations

4.Piercing Operations

5.Trimming Operations

6.Drawing Operations

7.Embossing Operations

8.Bending Operations

9.Squeezing Operations

Following steps are use to make the Casing part
