Transient simulation of flow over a Throttle body
Aim:
To simulate the transient flow over a throttle body.
Procedure:
- The elbow with throttle is imported into converge studio with .stl extension.
- The geometry is scaled and the bounday is flagged.
- The normals are oriented towards inside and the diagnosis is done.
- The case setup is done with transient based solver.
Case Setup:
- Solver = Transient
- Simulation Time Parameters:
As per the steady flow simulation the velocity is 200m/s
The length of the elbow is 0.11 m and approximated to 0.2 m
Using, Time = Displacement / Velocity
Time = 0.001 s
The simulation is run for 0.006 s
- Minimum time step: 1e-9 s
- Maximum time step: 1 s
- Base grid: 0.002 m
- Fixed Embedding
Scale = 3
Embedded layers = 2
Rotating degrees:
Total time for simulation: 0.006 s
Rotates to 25 degrees in 0.00225 s
Rotates back to 0 degrees in 0.00375 s
Observation:
Result:
The mesh generation over a rotating body is observed.
The obstruction in the flow and the pressure difference created due to throttle rotation is simulated.
