Conjugate Heat Transfer
Aim:
To Observe the heat transfer taking place between fluid and wall of the body.
Setup:
A cylinder with radius of 0.02 m, length 0.2 m and thickness 0.005m is created using the shape tool in converge studio.
The diagnosis is done and made the geometry error free.
Case Setup:
- General flow simulation with both gas and solid mixtures are taken.
- Fully hydrodynamic simulation with transient solver is used.
- Simulation time parameter is taken from 0 to 0.5 seconds.
- The boundary condition are:
- Inlet - Fluid Region
- Outlet - Fluid Region
- Outer Wall - Solid Region
- Thickness - Solid Region and
- Interface
- The solid region species is taken as Aluminium.
- RNG k-Epsilon Turbulence Model is used.
- Super cycling model is used.
Procedure:
The simulation is done with 3 basic grids starting from 0.003m to 0.005 m. In all the simulations the heat transfer takes place properly and reaches a constant temperature after certain time. The basic grid of 0.004 m is run with three different supercycle stage interval.
Observation:
3e-3:
5e-3:
4e-3 (with supercycle stage interval 0.01):
4e-3 (with supercycle stage interval 0.02):
4e-3(with supercycle interval 0.03):
Super-cycle stage interval 0.03 - Simulation time 371.4762seconds
Super-cycle stage interval 0.02 - Simulation time 354.1752 seconds
Super-cycle stage interval 0.01 - Simulation time 309.0923 seconds
Result:
As the supercycle stage interval reduces the simulation time also gets decreased. The temperature converges to a particular value.
