Project

Suspension System Comparison

Aim:

To create a block diagram using simulink for better comparion and understanding the Suspension System used in vehicles.

Tools used:

Simulink 2019

Discription:

Suspension system used in vehicles are must as they support and lessen the tension exerted on the chassis and tires due to bad roads. Road handling, Load handiling and passenger comfort is defined by the suspension used. The commanly used automative suspensions are of three types. They are as follows:

1.Linear Spring suspension:

A linear spring as a linear relationship between force and the displacement.Force and Displacement are directly proportional to each other.A graph plot made using linear spring as force and displacement going in a straight line with a constant slope.

2.Nonlinear Spring suspension:

A non linear suspension as a non linear relationship between force and displacement. Force and displacemnet is not directly proportional to each other.A graph plot made using non linear spring shows a more complicated and changing slopes.

3.Shock Absorber:

The shock absorber is made of interconnected network of spring and damper.

Plot:

Velocity modelling:

The velocity modelling for input of suspensionn system is provided using sine wave block and pulse generator blocks repectively:

Sine wave and pulse generator are used to create input velocity for the system. Simulink-PS convertor is used to convert bloack input to physical value for the model. The value used is velocity source. The velocity refers to suspension movement which is the vehicle moving in uneven road which causes vibration.

Final Velocity = product of sine wave1 & pulse generator1 + product of sine wave2 & pluse generator2 + product of sine wave3 & pulse generator3

Velocity Output:

Conclusion:

Thus we have successfully compared the suspension system used in vehicles using simulink.

We also have created graph showing the comparision between different suspension systems. Last we have understood from the graph that linear shock absorber is the best suspension system.
