OBJECTIVE

• Understand the Application Layout of NX CAD.
• Using NX CAD Design Sheet Metal Casing.

INTRODUCTION

In the designing of Sheet BOX Assembly by using NX CAD, the main purpose is to be familiar with the basic tools & some advanced tools also and understand the method of applying them. In this modeling, we learn to apply the different colors also.

DESCRIPTION OF TOOLS USED IN SHEET METAL CASING

Open NX12, Go to NEW Then Go SHEET METAL DESIGN, Go to File, Then Save then save as, Given File name and click ok.

• DATUM PLANE:- It provides a plane on the work base.

• DATUM AXIS:- It provides an axis on the work base.

• SKETCH:- With the help of this tool 2D sketch to be drawn to get the desired shape.

• TAB:- It converts 2D sketches into 3D.

• CLOSED CORNER:- Used to close two adjacent flange’s corner meet.

• HEM FLANGE:- It is used to fold the edges of the flange and also helps to improve stiffness

• UNITE:- It allows to combine two bodies as a single.

• NORMAL CUTOUT :- It allows making holes as per the sketch and removing materials.

• BENDING:- It allows bending materials from edges

• FLANGE:- By these tools bend added at different angles and of different lengths at the edge.

• BREAK CORNER (BLEND):- It allows for fillets on the corners.

• UNBEND:- It does flaten bend.

• DIMPLE:- It is used to lift an area in the Closed sketch of the model.

• BEAD:- It is provided to apply stiffness to the surface ( Formed), gets oval shape ( Lanced), gets oval shape with relife angel ( Punched).

• MIRROR FEATURE:- Used to get mirrored images about the planes.

• MIRROR BODY:- It is used to get an already existing body with respect to plane, line or Axis.

• REBEND:- Used to bend the unbend flanges in the model.

• RESIZE BEND RADIUS:- Used to adjust the angle of the bends.

• OBJECT DISPLAY:- It provides the availability of different colors & transparency of the object.
