Modeling of Sunseeker Predator Yacht
Objective :
- Creating surface modeling of different parts of the Yacht using solidworks software
- To assemble the modelled parts of the Yacht
Set of tools and features :
To model and assemble the parts of the Yacht there are several tools and features that were used
Here are some:
- 2D and 3D sketch : Sketches are to be drawn using available planes or in any dimension using sketch tool
- Extrude : Helps to convert a 2D sketch to solid 3D model
- Extrude cut : Helps to remove features in 3D model
- Surface loft : This feature creates smooth surfaces using 3D curves and edges
- Surface knit : To knit two or more open edges of the surface
- Filled surface : Used to patch the surface with selecting the boundaries
- Revolve : Used for producing revolved parts using centre line as axis
- Projected curve : Helps to create 3D curves using two 2D curves
- Pattern : Linear/Circular pattern helps to duplicate required number of features produced in required path
- Trim : Helps to delete the sketch or features that are needed to be
- Mirror : Helps to produce a reflected feature/face/bodies that are to be mirrored
- Fillet/Chamfer : Helps to change the sharp edges to smooth surfaces and inclined faces
- Mate : For assembly of the parts several different mates such as coincidence, concentric are useful
Parts to be modeled for Yacht :
- Propeller
- Radar
- Hull
- Seats
- Superstructure
- Radarmast
Assembly of the Yacht:
- All the developed parts were aasembled using assemble option in solidworks
- Suitable mating conditions were selected in order to assemble the parts flawlessly
Conclusion :
- Using several useful tools the parts of the Yacht were modeled using solidworks software
- Using assemble function of solidworks , parts were assembled and Yacht is modeled
