3D meshing using hypermesh
Objective :
To perform various types of 3D tetra meshing using hypermesh for the given components
by assigning given parameters
Procedure :
- Import the given model and then split it to perform 3D meshing accordingly
*Similarly with others models* - Take one component, which has to be meshed using 2D shell elements
- To perform 3D tetramesh using 2D shell elements , the solids of the components has to be deleted using delete option
- Then the surfaces are to be checked for mesh , to find irregularities
- The irregularities are to be edited on the surfaces before 2D meshing using Quick Edit options and other options like Surface Edit
- After the surface has been cleaned up manually , perform 2D meshing using 2D mesh option in the main menu bar
- After 2D mesh check for quality of the mesh
- After which perform 3D mesh - Tetra using tetramesh option in the mainmenu bar
- In tetramesh dialog box select component option and Simple Pyramid to perform 3D tetramesh for the component
- After 3Dmesh select few elements and mask them to view the meshed 3D elements
- Similarly to 3D mesh other components using Volume tetramesh , import the model and split the component that is to be meshed
- Select Solid or Surface option according to the present component status from the volume tetramesh options
- Assign 2D type as Trias and 3D type as Tetras , assign element size
- To change parameters , select tetramesh parameters in the tetramesh options
- Choose Element size , Tetcollapse and assign values as required
- Choose mask option to view the meshed component
- Similarly to perform Quick Tetramesh import the model and split the component that has to be meshed
- Select option View > Browser > Hypermesh > Utility
- From the Utility tab select Geometry/Mesh option and the Quickmesh option to go to Quickmesh option window
- Select component, element size , mesh type from the given options and then give mesh
- Mesh will the completed by creating 2D shell elements over the component and then 3D tetra mesh
- After creating 3D meshed elements , delete the 2D shell elements
- After which check for Tetcollapse in the 3D check elements
Check the Status bar for the number of failed elements - Edit the elements that are failed , using manual method
- If the model that were mesh was a symmetrical model , then use Reflect option to minimize the meshing time by meshing one half and mirroring the other
Result and Conclusion :
Given models were 3D tetra meshed using different ways such as Quick mesh , Volume mesh and Tetramesh using 2D shell elements
