3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT
- 1. AIM : To model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level.
INTRODUCTION : The creation of Ceilings within Revit is a very similar process to that of Floors and Roofs- ie you can let Revit do most of the work and “guess” where you want the boundaries to be,Or you can enter “Sketch Mode” and literally sketch out the boundary of the ceiling yourself. The main thing to remember is to be in the Correct Ceiling Plan View before you start. Revit “will” let you place Ceilings in Floor Plan Views, but I would not advise this as you cannot readily see what you have created
PROCEDURE :
- Open a file that we are saved by name Challenge-3
-
As we created first floor in this now we will create a ceiling
-
Go to Architecture tab>Select Ceiling

-
There are two methods for creating the ceilings (Automatic ceiling and sketch ceiling)
-
For this floor plan, we use the sketch ceiling option
-
Select line option and start drawing ceiling by clicking outer line of floor plan and tick ok

RESULT : The ceiling for this floor plan created successfully

2.AIM To model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling.
INTRODUCTION : Roof, covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain, snow, sunlignt wind, and extremes of temperature.Roofs have been constructed in a wide variety of forms flat, pitched, vaulted, domed, or in combinations as dictated by technical, economic, or aesthetic considerationsThe earliest roofs constructed by man were probably thatched roofs that were made of straw, leaves, branches, or reeds; they were usually set at a slope, or pitch, so that rainfall could drain off them.
Conical thatched roofs are a good example of this type and are still widely used in the rural areas of Africa and elsewhere.Thicker branches and timbers eventually came to be used to span a roof, with clay or some other relatively impermeable substance pressed into the interstices between them.Gabled and flat roofs were possible with these materials. With the invention of brick and cut stone for building, the basic roof forms of the dome and vault appeared.
PROCEDURE :
-
Go to the Architectural tab, and select the roof option
-
It will display different methods to create the roof
-
Select the Roof by footprint option from the architectural toolbar

- Select line option from modify tab and start drawing by clicking on outer line of floor plan

-
Now to change the slope of roof first change the unit of slope type UN enter and following screen appear

- Now go to Project browaser chnage slope to 10

RESULT : The roof is created successfully

3. AIM :To create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components.
INTRODUCTION : The structural plan view is the default view when you start a new project using a structural template. Most projects include at least one structural plan. New structural plan views are created automatically as you add new levels to your project. You can create multiple structural plan view types. The floor plan view is the default view in a new architectural project. Most projects include at least one floor plan. Floor plan views are created automatically as you add new levels to your project.
PROCEDURE :
- First, we have to draw the architectural plans for the ground floor level and first-floor level
- We have already created a plan that consists of ceiling and roof
- Go to the View tab, and select the Plan views option

- Select Floor plan option and click OK as we alredy created Architectural plan for Ground floor plan and First floor plan

- Again go to view tab select Structural plan for Grounf floor plan, First floor plan and Roof

Result-
The plan views for both architectural and structural floor plan levels have been created successfully

4. AIM : To add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file.
INTRODUCTION : The structural plan view is the default view when you start a new project using a structural template. Most projects include at least one structural plan. New structural plan views are created automatically as you add new levels to your project. You can create multiple structural plan view types. The floor plan view is the default view in a new architectural project. Most projects include at least one floor plan.Floor plan views are created automatically as you add new levels to your project.
PROCEDURE : ARCHITECTURAL
- In the ribbon tool bar use the Annotate tab to add the dimensions.
- In the Annotation tool bar select the Linear or Aligned Dimension to add the dimension to all the walls with respective Grids.
- After adding the dimensions add the dimensions for the components placed with in the building.
- Do the same for the first andthe ground floors.
- Add the overall dimensions for the grids.

STRUCTURAL PLAN :
- In the ribbon tool bar use the Annotate tab to add the dimensions.
- In the Annotation tool bar select the Linear or Aligned Dimension to add the dimension to all the walls with respective Grids.
- After adding the dimensions add the dimensions for the framing elements Such as Columns & beams placed in the building.
- Do the same for the first andthe ground floors.
- Add the overall dimensions for the grids.

RESULT :
- The dimensions are added to the structural floor plans and the architectural floor plans.
- And the longitudinal and transverse grids are also created in the project file.

5. AIM : To create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views.
INTRODUCTION : Create views on a project template before you start building the model to streamline the project documentation process. When creating a project template, you can include sheets in the template. Start with a blank project file, and create the standard views and levels that each project should include.Leave the views empty, but assign standard names to them. To create a standard set of construction documents, create sheets using the desired title blocks.Add views to the sheets, using the desired viewport templates and view title types. Then save the empty project as a project template. When you create a project using this project template, all of the views and sheets are already created and listed in the Project Browser. As you start to draw the building model in the project views, the views on the sheets update automatically. This technique streamlines the project documentation process and maintains organizational standards.
PROCEDURE :
- Initially go to view tab of the panel.
- Choose sheet option in the sheet composition panel of the view tab.

- Click load option and load more templates.
- Select the template and click ok

- Now, choose the view that is to be added in the template.

- Add view to the sheet and then adjust the scale so that it fit to the template.

6. AIM : To create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West using the elevation tab.
INTRODUCTION : An elevation is a view of a building seen from one side, a flat representation of one view. This is the most common view used to describe the external appearance of a building. Each elevation is labelled in relation to the compass direction it faces, e.g. looking toward the north you would be seeing the southern elevation of the building.
PROCEDURE :
- Go to the View tab and select the elevation option
- By default it shows two options i.e., Elevation and Framing Elevation
- We select Create elevation view

- After Selecting the Create Elevation, place the elevation tags at the required positions
- We are placing at East and North as shown in the figure below

SOUTH VIEW :

NORTH VIEW :
RESULT : Elevations view created successfully
7. AIM : To produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction.
INTRODUCTION : Sectional views reveal hidden details in a mechanical drawing. These views assume that a cutting plane has removed portions of the object represented by the drawing, displaying the appropriate section of the interior. Sectional views are used in engineering and architectural drawings. They help civil engineers, architects, and airplane designers communicate their ideas to their peers.
PROCEDURE :
- Go to the View tab and select the Section option

-
After Selecting the Section tool, place the first point and the second point in between the section view
-
The section views have been created as shown in the figure below

RESULT : All sectoins are showing below

- Go to project browser select Section option click on Section 1 and rename it as where we put our section

8. AIM : To classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser.

PROCEDURE :
- In the Project Browser, Click the Sheets option.

- Open the sheet, Drag the Views to the sheet according to the Project.
- Enter the Sheet Parameters in the Properties browser.
