3D Creation of Ceiling, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT

AIM : To create a ceiling at the first floor level

INTRODUCTION : Ceilings reside above the walls. It is created using a ceiling tool at a specified distance from the level. To place ceiling, walls are selected or sketched the boundaries. There are two types of ceiling: Basic ceilings and Compound ceilings. Basic ceiling has no thickness and the compound ceiling has many layers with thickness. Structure and thickness of the ceiling can be modified in Revit software.

PROCEDURE :

  • Open week 3 project
  • Go to level 1
  • Select ceiling (2'x4' ACT System) from the architectural tab and then select automatic ceiling
  • Select the rooms and the ceiling is created at 9' height

RESULT : Ground Floor and First Floor

Que no. 2 Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees

AIM : To create a roof with 10 degree slope above the ceiling

INTRODUCTION: The roof is a top covering of a building. In Revit software, the roof can be modified like change its shape, creating openings, defining slope, adding overhang value for eaves, adding soffits, fascia, gutters, etc. Revit offers several methods to create roofs such as

  • Roof by footprint
  • Roof by extrusion
  • Roof by face

PROCEDURE :

  • Go to level 2 on the first-floor level
  • Click on the roof by footprint in the architectural tab
  • Select the boundary line and pick the lines
  • Press ok
  • Select the roof and "add points" at some points for creating a sloped roof
  • Click on modify sub-elements and click on the points added
  • Edit it by adding a slope of 10 degree
  • Press okay

RESULT :

Que no. 3 Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground-floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to architecture and structural plans

a. Architecture plan must have walls, floors, and all the components placed within the building
b. Structure plan must have details of only walls, floors, and columns

AIM: To create plan views for ground floor and first floor level and,
To separate components to architectural and structural plan

STEP 1:

  • Open revit
  • Open project that you're working on

STEP 2:

  • Go to project browser then click on floor plans
  • Rename the floor plans visible under floor plans
  • Level 1 to ground floor > level 2 to first floor and last level to the roof and so on

STEP 3:

  • Architecture plan views of the project are ready
  • To access the architectural plan view of the ground floor go to floor plans and click on the ground floor

Ground floor plan

  • similarly again go to the properties browser.
  • click on the first-floor plan.

first-floor plan

  • To access architectural plan view of first floor then go to floor plans and click on first floor

STEP 5: STRUCTURAL PLAN VIEWS

  • Go to view tab > plan views

  • Then structural plan and then select the plan views missing from the view section and click ok

RESULT :

  • Architectural plan views are created to the project
  • Structural plan views are created to the project

Que no.4 Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file

a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings in relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architectural plans

  • Open revit
  • Open project that you're working on

STEP 2:

  • Click on Architecture toolbar > grid tool

STEP 3:

  • Draw horizontal and vertical grids at 10' difference
  • Make sure grids align with the site plan

b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans

Que no 5 Create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views.

STEP 1:

  • Open revit software.
  • Open project that you're working on

STEP 2 :

  • View tab > new sheet

  • Select the desired sheet type

STEP 3:
