Eligibility Criteria:

  • There will only be room for First and Second Class applications.
  • Maximum backlogs for a four-year programme are eight and for a three-year programme 4, respectively. Less backlogged candidates will be given preference.
  • The maximum permitted study break is up to five years. Any applicant with a study gap of more than a year must submit proof of employment or experience.

For the Fall term, new students are accepted into the Engineering Design Technology program.

 

General prerequisites for admission: 

 

All applicants must fulfil the prerequisites for general admission to Lethbridge College programs, which are listed in this calendar's Admission section.

 

Applicants to this program must meet the specific course requirements (or equivalents) listed below in addition to the basic entrance requirements listed in the Admission section of this calendar:

 

  • A mark of at least 50% in math during grade 12 (corresponding to Alberta's Math 30-1) or 60% in math in grade 12 (corresponding to Alberta's Math 30-2).
  • Physics in grade 11 or science in grade 12

 

Please be aware that Grade 12 Chemistry and Biology cannot be used in place of Grade 12 Science.

 

It is necessary to have a fundamental understanding of computer technology, including word processing, copying files, and working in a Windows environment.

 

Clair College 

The college faculty provides expert-level instruction in using engineering workstations with fully integrated software. The Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing has an excellent on-site training facility compared to most other CAD design courses in Canada.

 

Students can opt for a full-time diploma course in this college. Career support offered by the placement cell is renowned for its efficiency over recent years.

 

Eligibility criteria:

International students will require the following, or an equivalent, for general diploma programmes:

 

  • High school diploma and Grade 12 transcripts for Canadian and U.S. students.
  • General Certificate of Education proclaiming six passes in Ordinary-level academic areas for British applicants.
  • Transcript and diploma from high school for Caribbean origin English-speaking candidates.
  • WAEC or NECO transcript, online scratch number and pin verification for the West African natives.
  • Indians and South Asian students must deliver transcripts and high school diploma results.
  • The minimum IELTS score should be 5.5.
  • TOEFL score cannot be less than 61.

Also, overseas students should sit for a separate assessment where the evaluators check proficiency in understanding the Canadian Academic English language.

 

Design Engineering Learning Outcomes

Once you have finished Basic AutoCAD, you will:

  • Have thorough AutoCAD's basic controls.
  • Be able to use AutoCAD software to produce mechanical and architectural drawings.
