Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge
AIM: To create the electrical components mentioned and deine their electrical properties.
OBJECTIVE:
- To assign electrical properties to the given P clamp.
- To assign electrical properties to the given backshell.
- To create corrugated tubes as given in the table and add them to the catalogue.
P CLMAP
P clamps are used as a cable mounting and harness accessory, which inturn helps the proper functioning of machinery by keeping the cables and other components in place. Following figure 1 shows how to use the P Clamp.

Properties defined into the P clamp are
- Entry point and plane.
- Exit point and plane.
- Base plane.
BACKSHELL
A backshell is the back portion of a connector. It is typically a separate piece that screws or locks onto the connector shell, and most suppliers considered it a connector accessory. Connector backshells are specifically designed to protect the back portion of a connector shell (plug or receptacle) that houses the contacts to which wires or cable are either crimped or soldered. Properties that are defined into the backshell are
- Backshell coneection point.
- Bundle connection point.
Step 1: Import CAD model of the backshell and create appropriate planes and axis required.
Step 2: Define the given CAD model as backshell using "Define Backshell Command".
Step 3: Define the appropriate backshell connection point and bundle connection point.

CORRUGATED TUBE
Corrugated tubes are used as protective covering on wire and cable.

Corrugated tube is created using define "protection part" command as shown in figure 8.

CONCLUSION
- Electrical properties to the given P clamp are assigned
- Electrical properties to the given backshell are assigned
- Corrugated tubes as given in the table are created and added to the catalogue.
