Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 5 & 6 Challenge

WIRING HARNESS DESIGN

Wiring harness of automotives are have lot of harness system and each one one have lot of electrical devices and mounting equipments. This are initailly make as electrically defined, for make the wiring harness routing. In this design, there are two harness system created as Harness A and Harness B. The connectors are take from open source like TE.com and placed by using campuss tool. Bundle, branching ponts and bundle branches are created as per drawing.

corrugated tubes and tapes are given for protect and align the wires in proper wayin the assembly in industry. The colors also use for identify the harness system for others easily like in airconditioning harness use yellow cot tubes. The tubes are take from catalog as it will be created and saved before in catalog.

BUNDLE CONTINUITY

Bundle continuity is check for whether the bundles are fully connected or have any discontinuity inthe harness system. This in Edit- Search tool. For bundle check, select Electrical, Bundle segment and fully connected then give Fully connected is TRU or FALSE. If TRUE then it show all connected bundles or If it is FALSE then it shows what are the bundles disconnected and we inspect and make connected.

ANNOTATION

Annotation tool is used to notify or annotate the element which we want by write on box define it. It will help to indentify the part and purpose of element for others who see the design later. For make annotaion initially create referance surface and then make annotation using Flag Note with Leader tool or Text with Leadrer tool. The referance tool available in Mechanical Assembly Wrokbench- View from referance.

BUNDLE WARNING

Bundle warning will automatically notify when any error happen while create bundle. Which basically for Bending radius is not enough to create bundle in selected parts. Rectify the error by adjecting the branching points, add slag or reverse the direction of bundle flow.
