Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challenge
define it as Electrical Connector using Electrical Part,
Definition of Electrical Connectors Connectors are parts or devices used for electrically connecting or disconnecting circuits etc,
Components of an electrical circuit are electrically connected if an electric current can run between them through an electrical conductor An electrical connector is an electromechanical device used to create an electrical connection between parts of an electrical circuit or between different electrical circuits .
There are different types of electrical connectors including
- Inline or cable connectors, which are permanently attached to a cable so it can be plugged into another terminal.
- Chassis or panel connectors, which are permanently attached to a piece of equipment so users can connect a cable to a stationary device.
- Board-to-board connectors, which are used to connect printed circuit boards.
- Cable/wire-to-cable/wire connectors, which are used to connect two cables or wires.
- Cable/wire-to-board connectors, which are used to connect a cable or wire to a printed circuit board
Define the neccesary properties to conectors and clip.
The electrical part design workbech is used to define electrical connector or to convert standard parts into electrical devices you can start by working in the electrcal part design workbench to add electrical behaviour to a standard part to make it an electrical connector.
To define an electrical connector usig electrical part design workbench you can follow these steps,
-Enter the electrical part design workbench
-Define the connector as a part
-Add electrical behaviour at the level of a part
-Define it is a connecto with 3 termination points
-Define bundle connection point, connector connection point and cavity connection point in electrical part design workbench
-Define all the necessary properties to connector and clip.
- Create the required geometrical parameters for connector
- Create a bundle entry point
- If connector accommodates clip then define a geometrical parameter for the clip
- Define part as a connector or mounting equipment
- Create bundle connection point
- Create a connector connection point
- Create a cavity connection point if there is a clip.
