Week 9 Tension and Torsion test challenge
Simulation of tension and torsion test using ANSYS workbench
Objectiive: to perform the tensile test and torsion test on the given specemen for the following cases.
tensille test: displace one end of the specimen to 18mm while keeping other end fixed.
torsion test: displace one end of the specimen to an angle angle of 1200 degree.
Geometry:

material:

coordinate systems:
create 2 coordinate systems on both sides of the specimen for the tensile test.

create another cylindrial coordinate system on in the middle of the specimen for the torsion test.

temparature:

| results | tensile test | torsion test |
| total deformation: | 18.014 | 11.278 |
| equivalent stress: | 534.74 | 642.35 |
| temperature: | 340.99 | 420.51 |
conclusion:
we observe in both cases the specimen reaches its fracture point and breaks. the temperature is also high in both the cases at the fracture point , because when deformation occers in the specimen it will realease energy in the form of temperature.
