Challenge

Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

Door Lower- In this challenge we have to create a heatstake and locator for the component

Surface A is a surface that is given by engineers

Surface B is an engineering surface where we can add all the ribs boss screw and other things that can support the main component

Surface C is used to join A& B surface

DRAFT ANALYSIS - The Draft is the amount of taper for molded part perpendicular to the parting line , Draft angle is generally given to the component that helps to component easily removal from the core& cavity after manufactured,Draft angle ensure that part can easily move out from mold.

CONSTRUCTION OF DOOR SURFACE- Firstly we take an offset from surface A at a 2.5 mm distance downwards direction, then after that we get a surface where some surface are not offset completely

as in fig we can see that boundaries show where we need to work we we used some commands like

trim

split

edge fillet

muti extract

join

extrapolate

and after that we used Surface A and cons Surface C by using Surface A boundary as a reference by using the sweep option and then we add both of them A+C and trim with surface B we get final close body

LOCATERS- Locaters are genrally used for arresting degree of freedom of the component and act as locating another component to be assemble, first we take a point and plane then we create a sketch for locaters and extrude them and by using surface thickness or we can directly pad then we can construct locater , here we use 4 way, locater

HEAT STAKES - Heat stake are used for joining two components or product whether they are similar materials like plastic or dissimilar like metal, In heat stake, we just heated them at certain temp and the upper edge will connect both bodies it is widely used in OEMs

while constructing heat stake we used a different command

translation

join

unitrim

edge fillet

draft

pad

after creating by using boolean join command we attach all heat stakes and locaters to final body

TREE STRUCTURE FOR DOOR TRIM LOWER -

first we creating B surface by offsetting surface A and by using diffrent commands we construct B surface

after that we also created ribs at edges that prevent bending at edge and dog house that also helps to add another component .
