Week 9 - Parametric study on Gate valve.
Aim: To simulate the fluid flow through the gate valve assembly with 10mm to 80mm openings
Introduction: Gate valves are mechanically operated assemblies used to control or regulate the flow of liquids in high pressure pipelines. These valves can be act as control valves or safety valves in various fluid flow industrial applications and petroleum industries. The flow through the valve is controlled with a nut screw assembly which moves the gate disc in upand down in the pipeline attached along the line.
Theory: In this problem, we are regulating the flow through the gate valve with variable valve openings to calculate the flow rate at the exit and flow factor at 10% to 80% openings. The fluid is entered in the pipeline with inlet pressure of 20 Pascels and leaves at atmospheric pressure. Initially the valve is open to 10mm in Z axis movement and increased step by step with 10mm increment in every step. Thereby, corresponding readings of flow rate can be calculated using parameterizing command to operate it smoothly.
Further pre processing, solver and post processing are stipulated in notes attached herewith.
