Week 4 - CHT Analysis on Exhaust port
Aim: To simulate the cohorant heat transfer analysis for a exhaust port of hot fluid flow system.
Introduction: Cohorant heat transfer analysis is a flow analysis in which the fluid flow characteristics and heat transfer through fluid to another fluid is simulated to get the heat tranfer coefficients at wall sufaces and flow parameters at different planer regions and at outlet. The objective of this study is to compute the heat transfer rate and effectiviness of heat transfer from one fluid to another. Also to study the effect of various parameters such as hot fluid velocity, convective heat transfer coefficient, thermal heat transfer coefficients/ wall material properties, velocity of cold fluids etc. Here the natural convective heat transfer coefficient is used for flow analysis where as to increase the heat transfer rate or to reduce the system dimensions, the forced convective heat transfer will be introduced.
Theory: In this problem, there are two inlet port of hot fluid with outlet port for exhaust gases. This is the case representing the single outlet from different chimneys of boiler units or thermal power plants. There may be case of cascade engine systems with different inlet ports with single exhaust port. Here the air at 700K enters through the four openings and tranfer the heat through convection to the aluminium piping and conducted to outer surfaces and finally get convected through natural convection to atmospheric air at 300K, 20W/m2K
