Week 9 Machining with Planer Challenge
Objective:
To perform an explicit dynamics simulation to find out the Equivalent Stress, Total Deformation and also insert a User-defined result to calculate the temperature of the body, with TWO different cutting tool velocities 20000mm/s and 15000mm/s respectively.
Tool/Software: Ansys Workbench 2022R
Modal: Provided by Skilllync (Download from the challenge)
Material:
1) Structural Steel (For Cutting tool)
2) STEEL 1006 (For Work specimen)
Mesh:
| Mesh type | Patch Conforming Method | Edge Sizing |
| Geometry | Cutting tool | Work specimen (4 short edges) |
| Type | Tetrahedrons | Number of Divisions |
| Number of Divisions | - | 10 |

Cutting tool Velocity:
Case-1 = 20000 mm/s
Case-2 = 15000 mm/s

Results: Both cases Reports and simulation files are attached in attachments
1) Equivalent Stress Maximum
Case-1 = 653.0270466 MPa,

Case-2 = 663.9254675 MPa

2) Directional Deformation Maximum
Case-1 = 35.902 mm

Case-2 = 25.306 mm

3) TEMPERATUREALL Maximum
Case-1 = 400.1973 °C

Case-2 = 374.915 °C

Comparison:
| Units | Case -1 | Case -2 | |
| Velocity | mm/s | 20000 | 15000 |
| Equivalent Stress Maximum | MPa | 653.027047 | 663.9255 |
| Directional Deformation Maximum | mm | 35.9022208 | 25.30679 |
| TEMPERATURE ALL Maximum | ° C | 400.197365 | 374.9157 |
Conclusion:
In low-velocity stress increasing, And remaining Deformation, the Temperature of bodies is low.
Note: Simulation compressed files are too large and unable to attached
