Week 9 Challenge
In this week the topic is depressurization. Now, Using the depressurization tab, we are able to depressurize an entire system to find out details like restriction orifice size, depressurising time etc.
1. In this question it is required to find out the restriction orifice size for emergency depressurization of a vessel.
The conditions and composition of the stream is shown below:
The various details are found in the menu options in depressurization tab:
In connections menu the vessel parameters are given as input.
In config. strip charts menu the various variables of the vapor and liquid inlet/outlet streams are chosen to be shown as result (Molecular weight, viscosity etc.).
In heat transfer menu the oprating oe is chosen for heat transfer calculation (Fire, general etc.).
In valve parameters menu the orifice area si chosen as an estimate for the calculation for both the vapor and liquid outlets.
In options menu the PV work term contribution percet is chosen.
In operating conditions menu the time step size and the total depressurising time is chosen for the calculation.

NOTE: Since too many details are there it would be hectic to show so many details in images. The Aspen HYSYS save files have been attached herewith for proper evaluation.
