Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

AIM:

To create a BUMPER plastic component through given plastic surface CLASS A.To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model. Taking the Thickness of the component to be 3mm.

CLASS A SURFACE:

In a automotive design,a CLASS A SURFACE is any set of free from surfaces and high efficiency and quality. It is the aesthetic of the component which is created by the conceptual designer and gives to the part design engineer to create a part with all engineering aspects.

Here the CLASS A SURFACE is given we should check whether it is having no gap between the surfaces with the help of boundary command.

TOOLING AXIS CREATION:

We should create a Dummy tooling axis first by checking the three axis and which is suitable for the tooling axis.

Extract the base create a point on a Flat surface and create a dummy tooling axis for reference.

CLASS B SURFACE:

B SURFACE means is the thickening the part with CLASS A SURFACE which is not visible thickness inside the part. This is surface contains all engineering aspects.

OFFSET the CLASS A SURFACE FOR 3mm

CREATION OF CLASS C SURFACE:

The surface that joins CLASS A and CLASS B are CLASS C SURFACES.CLASS C SURFACES is often specified for interior surfaces not readily visible, surfaces that will be covered by another that when assembled the CLASS C finish allows more imperfections than CLASS A or B.CLASS C is often specified for interior surfaces not readily visible, surfaces that will be covered by another part when assembled,or surfaces which the customer feels do not need to meet a high cosmetic finish.

To create a CLASS C SURFACE,create a boundary from CLASS A SURFACE go to sweep and use with reference curve so that C SURFACE CREARTED.
