Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Fender wheel arc challenge:
When vehicle is moving tire pick up stones and others and hurt them in all direction. Fenders are basically present to prevent any pedestrians' injuries and constrain these particles' motion.For the vehicle to has its permit in different countries,the wheel arch of fenders must be compliant with the standards and regulations set by respective countries.
Types of fenders:
Full bumper type:
The full bumper type is the traditional type of fender where more material consumption is observed. This type is used in the old designs of automobiles where it increases the overall weight and thus reduces performance. The maintenance also relatively more due to more surface.
Half bumper type:
Half bumper type is the modern design where less material consumption is observed, so productivity increases by reducing the size of the blank and thus providing more performance. The maintenance also relatively low compared to the full bumper type.
We are changed from full bumper type to half bumper type to reduce the scrap rate per blank. In the full bumper, we can only produce one Fender per blank, whereas as a half bumper type we can produce 2 fenders per blank.

We will start by constructing the points of measurement for the wheel arch area.

L value at point SA =10mm
L value at point SB = 9.949 > 10mm
L value at point SC = 0.11 mm > 10mm
L value at point SD = 2.6 mm >10mm
L value at point SE = 5.3 mm >10mm
As per the European standards, the value of 'L' should be greater than 10mm. But at Section A, the value of L is equal to 10mm and at other sections the value of 'L' is less than 10mm. So, it does not satisfy the condition L > 10mm to meet the European standards in any of the sections.
