Week 9 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

Report:

Draft Analysis:

The draft analysis was done for class A surface, the closed surface model and the solid model. The threshold angle is set to 3 degrees and checked for variations in draft angles. The other thresholds were 70, 50, 0 and -20 degrees. The drafting axis fitted in the reverse direction with the tooling axis. So the draft direction is reversed.

Tooling Axis:

The surface is selected for boundary operation. In the boundary, a point is created at the centre of the base surface. A dummy axis is created through the point normal to the surface. The class A surface is intersected with a perpendicular plane in the created axis system. Lines are extended from four points(2 lines) that form a slant portion of the intersection curve. Then a bisecting line is created from the 2 lines. Then another dummy axis is created with angle -12 degrees apart from the slant surface. Another bisecting line is created with the previously created bisecting line and the dummy axis. This line is the tooling axis.
