Week 9-Challenge
Objective: To create connector and attach the various parts of the given model.
Procedure:
- First imported the model file using the Import Geometry option under the Import.
- Switched to topo mode to check for solids. As there are no solids, displayed components are mid surfaces.
- Now selected the mid surfaces one by one to work on them.
- Then meshed them with element size as 5mm using the automesh option in the 2D panel. The final meshed surfaces are shown below.
- Now to create connectors in order to attach the various surfaces of the model.
Step 1: To connect Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1 using Seam-Quad (angled+capped+L)
- First enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Seam-Quad (angled+capped+L)under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
- After this adjusted the distorted meshed elements by remeshing the elements.
Step 2: To connect Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1 using Quad elements
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Seam-Quad (angled+capped+L)under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
- After this adjusted the distorted meshed elements by remeshing the elements.
Step 3: To connect Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1 using Spot weld with 3 Layers and 5 mm Diameter
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spotweld under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Step 4: To connect Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1 using Hexa (Adhesive)
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Seam-Hexa (Adhesive)under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Step 5: To connect Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2 using Bolt Connector
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Bolt Connectorunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Step 6: To connect Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2 using Bolt Connector
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Bolt Connectorunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
- After this adjusted the distorted meshed elements by remeshing the elements.
Step 7: To connect Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2 using Spot-weld with Rigid Elements
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spot-weld with Rigid Elementsunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Step 8: To connect Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2 using Spot-weld with Spring Elements
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spot-weld with SpringElements under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Step 9: To connect the left component using suitable connectors
Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_2
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spot-weldunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_2
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Seamwith Rigid Elements under the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Rear_truss_1 & Rear_truss_2
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spot-weldunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Reinf_Plate
- Enabled the meshed parts of required mid surfaces to work on them.
- Then connected the component using the Spot-weldunder the Connectors command in the 2D panel.
- The required connected meshed surfaces are shown below.
Result: Connected and attached the various parts of the given model using various type of connectors in Hypermesh.
Conclusion: In this challenge,
- Learned the use of various type of connectors available in the Hypermesh.
- Also learned the use of connector to connect two or more available surfaces.
- Also learned to adjust meshing after the distortion caused due to use of various connectors.
