Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

ANSWER:

AIM

Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

OBJECTIVES

  • Creation of tooling axis.
  • Performing draft analysis on a tooling axis created.
  • Creation of class B and class C surface.
  • Creating a solid part out of surface modelling.

INTRODUCTION

In this challenge, we are using class A surface to create a base bracket. For that i have to create a tooling axis, after tooling axis the following surfaces are created

  • Class B surface
  • Class C surface
  • Closed Solid surface

Class B and Class C surface are created from the tooling direction. The closed solid part is created by tool called closed surface.

Tooling Axis

After observing from all the 3 planes we created a point on Class A surface hole on which created a yz plane and intersection was taken between Class A surface And plane also we created dummy tooling axis on point at hole

the surface which was parallel to dummy tooling we created 2 lines and later we bisect both the line to get a proper tooling axis.

later Draft Analysis was performed on a class A surface. The compass was placed on top of tooling axis and surface was selected which gives the result in a green colour if it comes in blue colour the we need to reverse the direction of compass.

Surface B

Class B surface was created into 3 parts Rib 1, Rib 2 and base surface, first we extracted rib 1 from class A surface untrimmed and extrapoled and  offset it to 2.5mm later we trim it to get rib 1 simillarly we created rib 2 and base surface and final trim was given to make a class B surface.

Surface C

Firstly we create a boundary of class A surface and by making use of sweep in a draft direction we created surface C and same with both the hole

Join Class A surface and Sweep and trimmed with class B surface to get a closed surface

Finally in part body making use of closed surface we convert surface into part body.
