Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

Report on the process followed to complete this challenge

  • We received Class A surface. Then we created Tooling Axis for Class A using intersection method where we created two lines and from those lines we created a bisecting line which was our Tooling Axis.
  • Further we created Class B surface by splitting the component into 3 simple parts where we first extracted the Rib 1, Rib 2 and base surface faces, untrimmed them and extrapolated it. Finally we trimmed the portion not required to us and got the final Class B surface by offseting it to required thickness.
  • For Class C surface we created a boundary by using Class A, then swept it along the Tooling Axis to 3 degrees. We also did the same process to create the holes. Then we joined the Class A and Sweep to create final Class C Surface.
  • Draft Analysis was done on the final output where Green colour indicates the draft angle between 0 to 3 degrees and the red colour indicated draft angle below 0 degree.
