Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation (Ribs & Screw Boss) - Challenge 1
Rib And Screw Boss
It an important Functional part in plastic Part.
Ribs Provide Necessarry Stiffness for plastic component. Were as Screw Boss help us to join it to an other parts of assembly.
Point to be considered to be considered for design of ribs are
- Draft- Min draft per side should be 0.5 Deg
- Rib Thickness W- 0.4 x t, Rib thickness should be 0.4 times tickness
- Rib Height- Nominal Rib hight is 5 times the thicness
- Rib Distance- Min Spacing between ribs should be a ration not less that 3: 1 (Height to width)
Point to be considered to be considered for design of Screw Boss are
- Thickness W- 0.6 x T Thickness of Screw Boss per side should be 0.6 times part thickness
- Draft- Min Draft for Screw Boss is 0.5 Deg per side
- Fillat Radius - 0.25mm Max
- Height - 3:1 (Hight to hole Diameter)
Draft anylisis is done to ensure that the part that need to manufactured is meeting necessary parameters for manufacturing
The part provide for this project is not meeting the parameter of 3 deg draft in Class A surface. its been clearly visible in Draft Anylsis.
