Week- 8 - Solid meshing
Objective:
The Aim of this project is to import the given component (rear view mirror) CAD file into ANSA and perform following tasks.
a) Check up for the geometrical errors
b) Mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criteria
c) Use tetra elements to mesh the Volumes defined in the model and check for the given quality criteria after Volume meshing

Procedure:
1. First the Rear view mirror Cad file is imported into ANSA software.

2. After importing the CAD file into ANSA, following tasks are performed on it.
a) Improve the resolution by changing the length and macro to 1 from the tool “Mesh > Classic > Perimeter's > Length”.
b) Topo is done on the geometry from the toolbox “TOPO > faces > topo”.
c) Check up for geometrical error is done from the toolbox Check >geometry. The errors are than auto fixed.
3. Now Shell meshing is done on the geometry. There are five componentes, so I did the meshing individually for all the components. The elements chosen for this meshing are tria for flat surfaces and ortho tria for curved surfaces. The tools that are used for shell meshing are:
a) Classic > Mesh generation > Spot mesh
b) Shell Mesh > Improve (reconstruction, smooth, fix qualtiy)
c) Elements > Swap
Before starting the meshing given quality criteria are fixed for the CAD geometry.
4. After the shell meshing is completed volume mesh is done on all the components individually.
Tools used for volume mesh are :
a) V.Mesh > Volumes > Define
b) Improve > Fix quality
5. After the volume mesh is done, the quality check is performed as given in the objective and here tetra collapse is being checked. The collapsed elements are fixed with the tool Improve >Fix quality.
Conclusion: The Aim of this objective has been successfully achieved.
