Week - 8 - Morphing

Objective :-

Morph The given two model to a new shape as shown in video.

Theory and application :-

Morphing is a feature that can rapidly morph existing FE and CFD models to match new geometry and/or to new proportions.Component and full system level FE/CFD models (such as automotive vehicle crash, NVH and durability models) can be morphed to fit target design features such as styling lines, sections, proportions etc. precisely.

In industry the designers used to change Hatch back version of car into Sedan model. As an example we can take Honda Brio and Honda Amaze version. Honda Brio is a Hatch back version and designers try to change the boot space area of this model and change into sedan model and named it as Honda Amaze. Like wise there are many models , Maruti-swift and dzire, TATA-tiago and tigor, Toyota-etios and liva, Hyundai- i10 and xcent..etc

    

This morphing technique will give basic idea of how a model look like when the design of the model is changed. So if you have to change the numerical values of model it consumes lot of time and effort. This effort can be reduced through Morphing technique.

Procedure :-

1) Import the model, Do geometry cleanup and geometry check.

2) To start Morphing go to Morph Module

3) In Boxes tab select NEW

4) In the window coming Select>Geometry  and Box type > ortho

5) Select the parts to morph and middle click twice 

6) Then we can see the morph box coming around the part.

7) Now select Move option under Box Morphing tab.

8) Select the nodes which we want to move in the morph box and middle click and move as we needed.

9) When the shape we needed is got middle click again.

For Morphing the Dog houses and ribs in the Hand rest part the procedure is same as above :-

You can see in this model the height of the Dog house and ribs are increased.

Conclusion :-

1) The morphing is done on two models.

2) 1st model's shape is changed to the shape shown in the video.

3) 2nd model's ribs and dog houses height is increased.
