Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Coin Holder Design

REPORT:

Tooling axis:

  • Tooling axis is the direction in which mold close and opens.
  • Part drafts are given along this axis

Determine the tooling axis:

  • Identify the faces which can potentially create the problems while manufacturing.
  • Surfaces at angles along a desired tooling axis.
  • Extract a plane surface and create a point on its center for tooling axis creation.
  • In this case Y axis can be possible tooling axis.
  • Since the most of the faces from the intersect are either parallel or at 90 or having comfortable draft angle, the Tooling axis will be created in the direction normal to the base surface along the origin of the axis system.

Draft analysis:

1.With the help of tooling axis, the axis creates the draft analysis.

2. Check whether the mode is in material mode

3. Using the compass fix and lock in the suitable direction

4. We the draft angle for 3 degrees

5. Click on the part make sure that color code becomes green.
