Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Bumper

REPORT:

We use several steps to formulate solid body with surface operations which is also liable to manufacturing without defects. Here is a brief explanation:

1. First we find a perfect tooling axis which satisfies all design and manufacturability considerations.

2. We perform a draft analysis with a tooling axis bisecting the cusp at the front part of the bumper as it satisfies all our design requirements.

3. We use an offset of 3mm to form the B surface and resurface the missing or faulted parts in it using various surface commands. Even though

4. We give it a C surface of 3 degrees inner draft so that the A side is perfectly within design equilibrium when viewed from the tooling axis. We mostly use sweep command with drafted surface to achieve eficient surface finish.

5. Later we trim all the surfaces to form a fully enclosed part ready for solidification. Then we solidify it in enclosed body command.

6. Finally after we enclose the body to form a solid component we use drafting analysis again to check whether all the surfaces have atleast a 3 degree draft and save it as usual for further process.
