Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Switch Bezel Design
SWITCH BEZEL:
The main objective for the given CATPART is to create tooling axis by satisfying the construction of surfaces and to perform draft analysis to check if the part has given draft to the srufaces which are lying parallel to the tooling axis and also to create class B and class c surfaces from the given class A surface.
DRAFT:
In engineering, draft is the taper given to the surface of the moulded or cast part perpendicular to the parting line. Usually the draft angle should not exceed 3 degrees. Draft analysis tool is used in the catia to analyse the draft of the surfaces for the given CATPART.
Class A surface:

Tooling axis:

Creating a centre point on the surface and give the axis system to take the tooling axis.

Now taking the bisecting line form the wall surfaces of the given CATPART, from that two bisecting line draw the bisecting line for the two axis line which are bisecting for the faces of the walls.

Now the tooling axis is created for the Class A surface. With the reference we will draw the class B and class C surafces.
Class B surface:
Class B surface is created by extracting the surfaces and untrim the surface of each face except fillets. Fillets are the complicated surfaces so we are neglecting in extracting of surfaces. now extrapolate the each surface which are extracted and offset it to the required thickness. Now trim the unwanted surfaces to form the Class B surface with respect to the tooling axis.

Class C surface:
Class C surface is the surface which joins the class A and class B surfaces. Class C surface is created from the boundry of the Class A surface. From thge boundry we use the sweep tool to create the Class C surface with respect to the tooling axis.

JOINING OF CLASS A,B,C SURFACES:
Now trim the unwanted surfaces to join the Class A,B,C surfaces. Check the join part by using boundry tool wheather the part is full closed or not. If the part has any opening boundry is created. If the part is fully closed the boundry will not be created.

Close surface:
close surface is the tool used to check the part wheather the part has closed surface or not and create a solid part.

Draft analysis:
Here we check the draft angle.
