Week 8-Challenge
OBJECTIVE: To create Teramesh for Housing and creating a 3D mesh with the desired mesh size and satisfying the given quality criteria of the TET collapse(0.150).
PROCEDURE:
- There are 2 criteria for the given models, for the given housing model there are 2 components to be considered a)exterior part,b) interior part.
- Interior part to be considered first, starting with the Geometry options use the defeature option in that use the surface fillets which is to be removed so first start with finding the fillets and then start deleting those fillets.
- Next step would be the meshing part, using the view option in the headline of the hypermesh interface, go to view-hypermesh-utility.
- In this utility function, there are many options for meshing the 2-D elements and creating tetra meshes as well.
- By clicking the Geometry mesh in the utility option there will be easy tetras where you can mesh the entire surface with the tetra meshes.
- By hitting this option you will see the number of options there you need to select the desired mesh size type of the mesh and selecting the component to be meshed.
- Later on we after selecting the component we can see the entire component got selected and ready to mesh.
- Now after the mesh gets completed we developed the tetra mesh, to check all the elements got created with the tetras we have an option called mask, by selecting this we can select few elements and reverse the elements then we can see inside the component whether entire component got created with tetras or not.
- Later on after the complete mesh is done we need to check the quality criteria of the given mesh size.
- If there are any failed elements we can improve them by reducing or increasing the given quality matches then re-meshing it using the 3-D option we need to set the quality parameters and selecting the remesh option and after selecting the 2-D elements the reselecting the 3-D elements gives the complete desired mesh with mesh size.1
- By considering the second criteria there are 2-models, for the model-2 component named as TETmesh in which we need to follow the same procedure to obtain the mesh size with quality.
- In this component, we can use second method to mesh it.
- First selecting the defeature option and eliminating all the surface fillets, then going to the 3-D mesh option meshing the desired component if the component gets an error like the surface of the component is not enclosed then you need to do manual cleaning of the particular geometry.
- After manual cleaning by using a quick edit option and surface edit options then we will try to mesh the surface one more time this time the mesh will be completed then we need to check the element quality criteria by clicking F10 or going to tool option there we need to click element criteria.
- By obtaining the desired quality we are done with the model.
- Similarly, the same process is repeated with the Model-4 by this has complicated parts and very time consuming because it has 8 components which are needed to be meshed manually by following any one method as mentioned above.
- After obtaining all the meshes for each component individually we will check the quality criteria for tet collapse if it satisfies then our model is complete.
CONCLUSION: Thus we completed our 2 models by creating the desired mesh size and quality.
