Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Draft Analysis on a Fan Cover

  • When developing parts for plastic injection molding, applying a draft (or a taper) to the faces of the part is critical to improving the moldability of your part. Without it, parts run the risk of poor cosmetic finishes and may bend, break, or warp due to molding stresses caused by the plastic cooling.

For draft analysis of the fan cover, first, we have to choose the right tooling axis for that we have first created a dummy tooling axis at X-axis and Y-axis.

then we have created the real tooling axis at the bisection point of these two dummy axis.

after creating the tooling axis we have done the different analysis

  • compas
  • angle of the surface to the tooling axis

we can also analyze different surfaces whether they are at a different draft angle with the help of color scale
