Week 7- Meshing of Backdoor Challenge

AIM: For the given component backdoor midsurface is extracted and meshing is to be doneas per the quality criteria.

PROCEDURE:

  • The model is imported into the hypermesh by using the import geometry.
  • Then the keep all the components into single component collector by using the organise option in the tool module.

  • There are three different components in that particular model, we need to divide the component into three different component collectors as inner, outer and lower by using the organise option.

  • The component is having the symmetry along x-axis, we can do the extraction of midsurface and meshing on the half component.
  • Then the extraction of midsurface has to be done using the automidsurface option in the geometry module for all the components.

  • After extractiing the midsurface we need to do the geometry cleanup.
  • Then the meshing has to be done using the automesh option in the 2D module.

  • After automeshing we need to avoid any off elements and based on the quality criteria.
  • we need to avoid triangles near the construction lines and free edges. Rotating quads should be avoided.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: I have learned how to use organise and seperate the components, and also learned how to deal with triangles and off elements in the mesh.

CONCLUSION: The extraction of midsurface is done for the given model and the meshing is done.
