Week 7 - Creating connection for Rear door
Week 7 - Creating connection for Rear door
Aim: To use ANSA software to establish connections for the car's rear door.
GOAL:
To give each subpart its unique property identity.
To represent a bolt connection, an RBE2 element must be created.
To depict a spot weld connection, an RBE3 Hexa RBE3 element must be created.
To represent weather strips, create an RBE3 CBUSH RBE3 element.
Establishing a seam-weld connection.
CAD DETAIL:

Assigning Property Identity Card
• Shift the model from entity mode to property identity mode (PID) to avoid single parts for connection.
• Segregate parts from groups and assign different PID to different components of similar groups.

Creating Various Connections
• Discuss and deploy different connections one by one wherever needed.
• Rigid Body Element (RBE2): Creates rigid connections and prevents movements along translation and rotational in x, y, and z axis.
• Cluster method: Creates connections between two or more holes using the same command.
• 3D Bolt Point Method: Creates 3D bolt connection by creating COG point on the circle of hole and using the convert function in the assembly module.
• Hinged Connection: Creates cluster RBE2 on both sides of hinges and creates a rotating link between master nodes of cluster RBE2.

Creating Seam Weld Connection
• Uses overlap shell and Y-joint shell connections.
• Overlap shell connection is used when connecting two parts parallel to each other.
• Y-joint shell connection is used when connecting two parts perpendicular to each other.

Creating RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 Elements
• Establishes connection between mirror and door panel, also known as weather strips connection.
• Follows steps to hide all components of the rear door FE model except both glasses.
• Extracts curve from edges of glasses using Feat2curv and converts it into spot line using the convert command in assembly.

• Selects the created spot line in assembly, enters space distance 10, selects P1 and P2 appropriately, and FE representation type is RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3.

Learning objective:
1D component and kind of link.
various approaches to establishing a connection.
giving the body a mass.
identifying the spot weld connection and seam.
CONCLUSION:
Thus, connections are successfully made using RBE2, SEAM WELD, and RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 for the specified rear door model of an automobile.
