Week 7- Base Unit Design Challenges 2
BASE UNIT
Project Named as P001_Z01_ST010_00_00_BASE_UNIT
whereas,
P = Project no.
Z = Zone no.
ST = Station no.
It is necessary to have two pins to lock the car panel (component). And here one pin must arrest 4 ways (4 translation ) and the other must arrst 2 way (ie rotational ) of car panel.
Some standards dimensions
The pin should engage 3mm to 5mm from the component entry surface.
The distance Between the Pin flange and the bottom of the component must be 10mm to 15mm.
There must be keep space for spacers of 5mm
The spacer's dimensions - are 1 spacer of 2mm, 2 spacers of 1mm and 2 spacers of 0.5mm.
Before creating the base unit we have created a Pin-Clamp unit for small parts of the components.
- To create this pin unit firstly created the pins of 10mm diameter with a clearance of 5 mm on the top side and 10 mm on the bottom side.
- After that create Pin retainers for each pin with the specific dimensions according to the available space also the size and shape also depend on the available space for the pin retainers.
- Following through holes are created for bolts and dowel pins with a dimension of 8mm and 20mm apart from each other.
- Accordingly to the dimensions similar holes are created on the respective risers or the riser arms.
- Spacers or shims are placed in between pin retainers and Risers the dimensions of shims are standard and are specified above.
- In some pin-clamp unit the distance between the pin retainers and the riser of riser arms are more so to fill up that space L- blocks are created.
- As concluded all the parts of components are restricted by the 3-2-1 principle.
The procedure for creating the base unit is as follows:-
-A Rectangular Base plate is created with dimensions of 1100 X 1900 X 30 at the bottom also make sure that every unit must be included in the base plate and from each side, the base plate must be 25 to 30 mm greater than the unit.
- Below the base plate square tubes are created to form the support between the base plate legs and the base plate
- The square tubes are 50 X 50 mm and have a thickness of 2mm.
- In those square tubes the two horizontal tubes are 1820mm long whereas the three vertical tubes are 940mm long.
- The three vertical tubes are at equidistance to each other.
- Below that square plates are created for mounting of base plate legs.
- The dimensions of that plate are 200 X 200 X 30 mm and are situated exactly border of the base plate.
- Below the square plate the legs of created in this case 6 legs are created as the horizontal length is greater.
- The dimensions of the legs are 80 X 80 X 600 mm and are 2mm thick and situated exactly centre of the previously created plate.
- Finally, the lower plate of the base leg is created which will support the base leg.
- The dimensions of the lower plate are 250 X 130 X 30 mm and a hole of M24 is created to the inner side of the lower plate.
