Week 6 Challenge

Aim: 1.Calculate the Pipe loads for the bridge shown in figure The width of bridge is 3m. The bridge is located in the banks of river narmada. Two pipes are proposed on the bridge with one being 700 dia NB DI pipe and the other one being 200 dia NB DI pipe. The length of the bridge is 24m

2. Apply the calculated pipe load in Staad.pro

Given that: Width of the Span =3m

No of Pipe lanes =2

1st Pipe line Dia =0.7m Dia NB DI

2nd Pipe line Dia =0.2m Dia NB DI

Length of Span =24m

Procedure:

Calculation of Pipe loads

Self-weight of 700mm dia Pipe=173.9 kg/m or 1.73 Kn/m

Live load of 700mm dia water =3.14*(0.7*0.7)*10= 15.386 Kn/m

Total Udl For 700mm dia pipe = 1.73+15.386=17.116Kn/m

Self-weight of 200mm dia Pipe=30.6 kg/m or 0.306 Kn/m

Live load of 200mm dia water =3.14*(0.2*0.2)*10= 1.256 Kn/m

Total Udl For 700mm dia pipe = 0.306+1.256=1.562Kn/m

Creating Staad-pro Model

Creating bottom part

Using translational repetition in the y-direction 2.5m interval, top portion is created.

And using add beam option in the Z+ direction view in the following way beams are Added.
